Hi Reader! Read Across America Week will be here before you know it! Does your school have a big celebration? In my classroom, a favorite book for many years was Green Eggs and Ham. I even had students who memorized the entire book they loved it so much! π₯° Each March, I used Green Eggs and Ham to work on my student's reading IEP goals so I created lots of great communication and comprehension activities to go along with it. Plus some progress monitoring sheets so I didn't have to reinvent them each year. Other classes love Green Eggs and Ham too! This is one of my most reviewed picture book units! And of course we always ended the unit with making our own green eggs and ham! This recipe can be found in my March Bundle! π Until next time! |
I taught in an elementary special education classroom where I created countless individualized supports, organizational tools, and differentiated activities for my students before transitioning to my current position on an autism and low-incidence coaching team where I have had the pleasure of meeting and helping teachers in hundreds of classrooms in the Dayton, Ohio area. I am passionate about special education and helping teachers!

Hi Reader! Ever have one of those days where you feel more like a detective than a teacher? π΅οΈβοΈ Weβve all been thereβtrying to figure out why a student is suddenly eloping or why a usually calm afternoon turned into a series of "mystery" behaviors. When weβre in the thick of it, itβs easy to feel overwhelmed. But the secret to shifting from "extinguishing fires" to "teaching skills" lies in one thing: the function. Iβve been reflecting on a 5-Step System that has been a total game-changer in...
Hi Reader! Each year for Valentine's Day, my class did activity rotations with the other special education classrooms in the building. The year I got married my fiance surprised me with a singing telegram made up of a quartet of ladies singing old-timey love songs... right in the middle of our rotations. I was MORTIFIED! π³ Back then I was terrified of being the center of attention... which was ironic as a teacher! Eleven years later and it is a favorite Valentine's Day memory. Another...
